Terrell Wills, 52, of Bridgeport, has been sentenced to 54 months in federal prison and four years of supervised release for his involvement in a narcotics trafficking operation in southwestern Connecticut. The sentence was handed down by U.S. District Judge Michael P. Shea in Hartford.
According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Connecticut, Wills played a key role in a drug trafficking organization led by Rodney Canada. Law enforcement agencies, including the Drug Enforcement Administration’s Bridgeport High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) Task Force and the Stamford Police Department, identified Canada as the leader distributing large quantities of fentanyl, heroin, cocaine, and crack cocaine in Stamford and other parts of southwestern Connecticut.
Investigators used court-authorized wiretaps and controlled purchases during their 2024 investigation. They intercepted more than 5,000 text messages and calls involving Canada that detailed the coordination of drug distribution activities.
Wills previously lived in Darien and was considered a trusted associate within the organization. He mainly distributed cocaine but also managed cash transactions and acted as an intermediary between Canada and other sellers.
On May 14, 2024, law enforcement arrested Wills, Canada, and others involved in the conspiracy. Authorities conducted searches at several locations across Stamford, Norwalk, Bridgeport, and Darien. During these searches they seized about three kilograms of cocaine, nearly 400 grams of raw fentanyl, over 500 bags containing fentanyl, five firearms, a bulletproof vest, and seven vehicles.
Wills pleaded guilty on October 10, 2025 to conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute cocaine. His criminal record spans roughly three decades with multiple convictions—including a previous federal conviction for narcotics trafficking from March 2014 that resulted in a four-year prison sentence.
Currently released on a $150,000 bond, Wills is required to report to prison on April 24.
Canada also pleaded guilty; he received a sentence of 110 months’ imprisonment on December 15, 2025.
The investigation involved several agencies: DEA’s Bridgeport HIDTA Task Force; police departments from Stamford, Bridgeport; U.S. Marshals Service; FBI; Connecticut State Police; as well as Norwalk, Danbury and Darien Police Departments. The DEA HIDTA Task Force includes personnel from various local police departments alongside state police officers.
Assistant U.S. Attorneys Patricia Stolfi Collins and Geoffrey M. Stone are prosecuting this case.
“David X. Sullivan, United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut,” announced the sentencing.
