The Superior Court of Connecticut has scheduled a series of Sentence Review Division hearings to take place on March 24, commencing at 9:00 a.m. in courtroom 5-1 at the Middletown courthouse. The assignment lists applicants, their attorneys, and other involved parties who are required to participate remotely.

The schedule is significant as it outlines opportunities for individuals seeking review or modification of their sentences under Connecticut General Statutes §51-196. These hearings allow applicants and their legal representatives to present arguments regarding possible changes to original sentences.

According to the court notice, all applicants, attorneys, and guardians ad litem must be present remotely and will have the chance to be heard during these proceedings. Attorneys are reminded that failure to appear or arrange a continuance through the Secretary of the Sentence Review Division may result in sanctions pursuant to C.G.S. §51-84. The court also requests advance notification if an interpreter is needed for any applicant.

The notice states that cases will be reviewed according to state law and clarifies that the Sentence Review Division holds authority not only to decrease but also increase or affirm existing sentences following its evaluation process. Additionally, inclement weather announcements affecting the Middlesex Judicial District Courthouse will apply equally to these scheduled hearings.

A detailed list accompanies the announcement, specifying each applicant’s name, defense counsel, judicial district or state’s attorney involved, inmate number (if applicable), docket number, and any special requirements such as language interpreters or video appearances. Several cases have been continued or rescheduled for later dates throughout 2026.

Looking ahead, participants are advised by the Sentence Review Division of its address at 225 Spring Street in Wethersfield along with contact information should further clarification be needed.
