David X. Sullivan, the United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut, announced that a federal grand jury in New Haven has indicted Brandt Mendelson, 30, from Danbury. Mendelson is charged with possession with intent to distribute 50 grams or more of a mixture and substance containing methamphetamine.
The indictment was returned on June 17, 2025, and Mendelson was arrested yesterday. He has been released on a $100,000 bond.
According to the indictment and court statements, Wallingford Police stopped Mendelson’s vehicle on January 18, 2025, and arrested him for driving under the influence. At the time of his arrest, he had numerous counterfeit Adderall pills containing methamphetamine intended for shipment through the U.S. Mail.
If convicted, Mendelson faces a mandatory minimum sentence of five years and could receive up to 40 years in prison.
U.S. Attorney Sullivan emphasized that an indictment is not evidence of guilt. “Charges are only allegations,” he said, adding that “a defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.”
The investigation is being conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Wallingford Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Nathaniel J. Gentile is prosecuting the case.
