A Pennsylvania resident has been sentenced to three years in federal prison for fentanyl trafficking, according to an announcement from David X. Sullivan, United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut. Christian Andres Tejada Segura, 26, a citizen of the Dominican Republic living in West Hazelton, Pennsylvania, received his sentence from U.S. District Judge Vernon D. Oliver in Hartford.
Tejada was also ordered to serve 18 months of supervised release following his prison term and pay a $20,000 fine.
Court documents and statements reveal that Tejada was arrested on May 24, 2023, in Orange, Connecticut. The arrest followed an undercover operation by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), which arranged a fentanyl purchase with another individual. Tejada traveled to Connecticut and was found carrying about 473 grams of fentanyl at the time of his arrest.
On April 4, 2025, Tejada pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute 40 grams or more of fentanyl.
He is currently out on a $50,000 bond and must report to prison on September 11.
The investigation involved multiple agencies: the DEA New Haven Task Force led the effort with support from the West Haven Police Department and New Haven Police Department. The Task Force includes members from several law enforcement organizations such as the DEA, U.S. Marshals Service, Internal Revenue Service – Criminal Investigation Division, Connecticut State Police and police departments from New Haven area municipalities including Waterbury, East Haven, Branford, West Haven, Ansonia, Meriden, Naugatuck and Shelton.
