A citizen of Ecuador, Stanlin Daniel Vasquez-Salinas, also known as “Stalin Vasquez-Salinas” and “Stalin Vasquez,” has pleaded guilty to unlawful reentry of a removed alien. The announcement was made by David X. Sullivan, United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut.

Vasquez-Salinas, 25, last resided in Danbury. He entered his plea before U.S. District Judge Victor A. Bolden in New Haven.

Court documents and statements indicate that on March 11, 2025, Danbury Police arrested Vasquez-Salinas and charged him with conspiracy to commit commercial sexual abuse of a minor between the ages of 15 and 17 years old. At the time of his arrest, he identified himself as “Stalin D. Vasquez.” Authorities confirmed his true identity through fingerprint analysis. The investigation found that he had illegally entered the United States in December 2019 and was apprehended by U.S. Border Patrol in Texas before being removed to Ecuador in May 2020.

On March 14, 2025, after being released from state custody on bond, Vasquez-Salinas was taken into ICE custody following a brief vehicle chase and foot pursuit. He has remained detained since then.

Vasquez-Salinas faces up to two years in prison at sentencing, which has not yet been scheduled. His state charges are still pending.

The case is being investigated by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Enforcement and Removal Operations with help from the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Assistant U.S. Attorney Neeraj N. Patel is prosecuting the case.

“U.S. Attorney Sullivan thanked the State’s Attorney’s Office for the Judicial District of Danbury for its cooperation in investigating and prosecuting this matter.”

This prosecution is part of Operation Take Back America, an initiative aimed at addressing illegal immigration and related criminal activity by coordinating resources from several Department of Justice programs including OCDETF and Project Safe Neighborhood (PSN).
