A Danbury resident originally from Ecuador, Enrique Paulo Pucha-Jimenez, 34, has been sentenced to 25 years in federal prison for recording his sexual abuse of a minor. U.S. District Judge Kari A. Dooley handed down the sentence in Bridgeport, according to an announcement by David X. Sullivan, United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut.

According to court documents and statements made in court, Pucha-Jimenez abused a girl between the ages of nine and twelve on multiple occasions from November 2020 to August 2023. He used his cellphone to take photographs and videos documenting these acts.

Pucha-Jimenez was arrested by Danbury Police on August 16, 2023, facing state charges including sexual assault and risk of injury offenses. Forensic analysis later found 576 images and 36 videos of child sexual abuse material involving the victim on his cellphone.

He has remained detained since his arrest. On August 1, 2024, he pleaded guilty in federal court to production of child pornography. State charges are still pending against him.

After serving his prison sentence, Pucha-Jimenez will face immigration proceedings.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation and Danbury Police Department investigated the case. Assistant U.S. Attorney Daniel E. Cummings prosecuted with help from the Office of the State’s Attorney for the Judicial District of Danbury.

“This prosecution is part of the U.S. Department of Justice’s Project Safe Childhood Initiative, which is aimed at protecting children from sexual abuse and exploitation. For more information about Project Safe Childhood, please visit www.justice.gov/psc.”
