Tyrone Brown, a 33-year-old resident of Lithonia, Georgia, has been sentenced to 10 years in federal prison for trafficking methamphetamine pills into Connecticut. The sentencing was handed down by U.S. District Judge Stefan R. Underhill in Bridgeport. In addition to the prison term, Brown will serve five years of supervised release.
Court documents and statements indicate that from January 2022 through March 2024, Brown mailed parcels containing methamphetamine pills from Georgia to addresses in New Haven linked to Gregory Grant and others. Authorities identified about 79 suspicious packages sent from Brown to Grant during this period.
In January 2023, investigators searched an intercepted parcel under court authorization and discovered more than four kilograms of multicolored methamphetamine pills along with a firearm inside sixteen ziplock sandwich bags. Investigators also found evidence that Grant made several payments to Brown as part of the conspiracy.
Brown was arrested on April 7, 2025. During a search of his home on the same day, law enforcement officers found numerous pills and a handgun. He has remained in custody since his arrest and pleaded guilty on September 2, 2025, to conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute at least 500 grams of methamphetamine.
Gregory Grant, who is from New Haven, pleaded guilty on March 12, 2025. He is currently detained while awaiting sentencing.
The investigation was led by the U.S. Postal Inspection Service and the Narcotics and Bulk Cash Trafficking Task Force. This task force includes members from the U.S. Postal Inspection Service, the U.S. Postal Service – Office of the Inspector General, as well as police departments from Hartford, Plainville, and Meriden. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Nathaniel J. Gentile and Jocelyn Courtney Kaoutzanis are prosecuting the case.
