David X. Sullivan, the United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut, has announced that Husani Foote, a 30-year-old resident of Naugatuck, has been sentenced to 10 years in federal prison. U.S. District Judge Omar A. Williams handed down the sentence in Hartford. Following his imprisonment, Foote will undergo five years of supervised release for his involvement in narcotics trafficking.

Court documents and statements reveal that Foote was involved in trafficking narcotics around Waterbury. He was initially arrested on state charges on April 13, 2023. On the same day, authorities conducted a court-authorized search at his Aetna Street residence and his vehicle parked nearby. The search uncovered over 34,000 baggies containing a mixture of fentanyl, heroin, and xylazine; approximately 160 grams of crack cocaine; six grams of powder cocaine; tools used for processing and packaging narcotics; a loaded 9mm handgun; and more than $122,000 in cash.

Foote has been detained since his federal arrest on June 12, 2023. He pleaded guilty on May 13, 2024, to possession with intent to distribute more than 40 grams of fentanyl.

The investigation was carried out by the DEA New Haven Task Force along with the Waterbury Police Department, Naugatuck Police Department, and Connecticut State Police. Assistant U.S. Attorney Natasha M. Freismuth prosecuted the case.
