A New Haven resident, Gregory Grant, 34, has been sentenced to three years in federal prison followed by three years of supervised release for his role in trafficking methamphetamine pills. The sentence was handed down by U.S. District Judge Stefan R. Underhill in Bridgeport.
According to court documents and statements made during the proceedings, between January 2022 and March 2024, Tyrone Brown, a co-conspirator of Grant, mailed packages containing methamphetamine pills from Georgia to various addresses in New Haven linked to Grant and others. Investigators identified about 79 suspicious parcels sent from Brown to Grant during this period.
In January 2023, law enforcement executed a court-authorized search on one intercepted package. Inside they found 16 ziplock sandwich bags holding more than four kilograms of methamphetamine pills and a firearm. Further investigation revealed that Grant had made several payments to Brown as part of the conspiracy.
Grant has been held since his arrest on March 27, 2024. He pleaded guilty on March 12, 2025. Brown also pleaded guilty and was sentenced on December 2, 2025, receiving a ten-year prison term.
The investigation was led by the U.S. Postal Inspection Service and the Narcotics and Bulk Cash Trafficking Task Force. Members included personnel from the U.S. Postal Inspection Service, the U.S. Postal Service – Office of the Inspector General, as well as officers from Hartford, Plainville, and Meriden Police Departments. Assistant U.S. Attorney Nathaniel J. Gentile prosecuted the case.
