David X. Sullivan, United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut, has announced the sentencing of Devaro Taylor, 35, from New Haven. Taylor was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Omar A. Williams in Hartford to 28 months in federal prison followed by three years of supervised release for distributing crack cocaine.

Court documents and statements indicate that an investigation into narcotics trafficking and related criminal activity around New Haven began in 2020. The FBI’s New Haven Safe Streets/Gang Task Force and the New Haven Police Department were involved. Between September and December 2020, investigators conducted controlled purchases of crack cocaine from Taylor. A wiretap on Taylor’s phone revealed he sold powder and crack cocaine to several drug customers in New Haven.

Taylor was arrested on January 26, 2021. A search of his residence uncovered approximately 124 grams of cocaine, about 226 grams of crack cocaine, and $6,702 in cash.

On December 7, 2021, Taylor pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute cocaine base (“crack”).

Assistant U.S. Attorney Nathaniel J. Gentile prosecuted this case through the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF) Program. More information about the OCDETF Program is available at https://www.justice.gov/OCDETF.
