A New Mexico resident has been sentenced to prison for trafficking firearms into Connecticut. Timothy Gregory, 43, formerly of Questa, New Mexico, received a sentence of 21 months in prison and three years of supervised release. The sentencing was handed down by U.S. District Judge Stefan R. Underhill in Bridgeport.
According to court documents and statements made in court, an investigation by the FBI New Haven Safe Streets Gang Task Force found that Gregory offered to sell and ship firearms to a person in Connecticut who is prohibited from possessing them. In May 2024, Gregory mailed a package containing a Glock 42 .380 caliber pistol and three magazines to Connecticut. The following month, he sent a .223 caliber AR15-style rifle and two empty 30-round magazines.
Gregory was arrested on July 18, 2024. He pleaded guilty to firearms trafficking on June 5, 2025, and has been detained since his arrest.
The case was investigated by the FBI New Haven Safe Streets Gang Task Force, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), and the U.S. Postal Inspection Service. The Task Force includes members from the FBI, Connecticut State Police, Connecticut Department of Correction, and several local police departments: New Haven, Milford, East Haven, West Haven, and Wallingford. Assistant U.S. Attorney Stephanie T. Levick prosecuted the case.
