A federal grand jury in New Haven indicted Thomas Marra, 55, of North Haven, on Apr. 1 for allegedly robbing a Webster Bank branch in Berlin on December 31, 2025, according to an announcement by David X. Sullivan, United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut.

The case is significant because Marra was reportedly on federal supervised release at the time of the alleged robbery. He had previously been sentenced to five years in prison for a narcotics trafficking offense and was released from prison in June 2025.

Authorities say that if convicted of bank robbery, Marra faces up to 20 years in prison. He has been detained since his arrest on related state charges on January 7, 2026. In addition to the current charge, Marra could face further penalties if found to have violated conditions of his supervised release.

U.S. Attorney Sullivan said: “An indictment is not evidence of guilt. Charges are only allegations, and a defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.”

The investigation into this case involves the Federal Bureau of Investigation as well as police departments from Berlin and North Haven. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Nathan J. Guevremont and Brendan J. Keefe are prosecuting the case.

This indictment highlights ongoing law enforcement efforts against repeat offenders who violate terms of their supervised release.
