A man from Gresham, Oregon, has been sentenced to seven years in federal prison for a child exploitation offense involving illegal sexual activity with a minor in Connecticut. The announcement was made by David X. Sullivan, United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut.
Canyon Beasley, 22, received an 84-month prison sentence and five years of supervised release from U.S. District Judge Sarah F. Russell in New Haven. According to court documents and statements presented in court, Beasley began communicating with a minor in Connecticut through text messaging and Snapchat starting around January 2023. In July 2023, he requested sexually explicit images and videos from the minor. By August 2023, he became aware that the victim was 13 years old. Over more than a year, they exchanged sexually explicit content via online platforms.
In June 2024, Beasley traveled to Connecticut where he engaged in sexual activity with the minor and recorded it on his phone.
Beasley was arrested on September 30, 2024. He pleaded guilty on April 25, 2025, to receipt of child pornography.
Beasley is currently released on a $250,000 bond and must report to prison on January 28. He also pleaded guilty in Connecticut state court to a related charge and is awaiting sentencing for that matter.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation led the investigation with support from the Cheshire Police Department and the Connecticut State Police. Assistant U.S. Attorney Christopher Lembo prosecuted the case.
