David X. Sullivan, United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut, announced on Mar. 23 that Danny Turkvan, also known as “Smooth,” of Stamford has been charged with distributing crack cocaine after being sentenced in a previous federal case and before reporting to prison.

Turkvan was sentenced on August 13, 2025, in Hartford federal court to 46 months of imprisonment and three years of supervised release for his role in a southwestern Connecticut narcotics trafficking conspiracy. He had been released on a $150,000 bond and was ordered to report to prison by October 16, 2025.

According to court documents and statements made in court, authorities allege that Turkvan continued distributing narcotics after his sentencing. Stamford Police arrested him on state charges on October 11, 2025, seizing crack cocaine he allegedly intended to distribute.

A federal grand jury returned an indictment against Turkvan on March 3, charging him with possession with intent to distribute cocaine base (crack), which carries a maximum sentence of up to twenty years. He is also charged with committing the offense while on pre-trial release—a charge that carries a mandatory consecutive term of up to ten years.

Turkvan has remained detained since his arrest. He appeared in Bridgeport federal court yesterday and pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The investigation is being conducted by the Stamford Police Department and the Drug Enforcement Administration. Assistant U.S. Attorney Patricia Stolfi Collins is prosecuting the case.
