Ameer Nasir, a 25-year-old resident of Trumbull, pleaded guilty in federal court to wire fraud for defrauding Amazon.com, Inc. of more than $3.5 million. The plea was entered before U.S. District Judge Kari A. Dooley in Bridgeport.
According to court records and statements made during the hearing, Nasir registered 23 trucking businesses with Amazon Logistics, a subsidiary that contracts with trucking companies to move trailers between cities and warehouses. One account was set up under his business, Pak Express Transport, LLC, while others were created using false names or by misusing the identities of other trucking companies without their operators’ knowledge.
Between December 2019 and February 2021, Nasir used these accounts to accept over 1,000 transportation assignments from Amazon Logistics. He manipulated information in Amazon’s transportation management system to falsely claim completion of trailer movements that never occurred and submitted fraudulent invoices for payment. As a result of this scheme, Amazon lost more than $3.5 million.
Nasir was arrested on May 8, 2025. He has agreed to pay restitution totaling $3,547,090.93 and faces a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison for the wire fraud charge. Sentencing is scheduled for May 29. Nasir is currently released on a $300,000 bond pending sentencing.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation led the investigation with help from Amazon staff. Assistant U.S. Attorney Elena L. Coronado is prosecuting the case.
“This matter is being investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation with assistance from Amazon,” according to the press release issued by David X. Sullivan, United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut.
